I've spent the last few days fending off requests for rides and hopeful students requesting that I wait just so they can finish their test and catch a ride. At this point I'm leading a few cars east to Indiana starting at 9 am from the Elman center. With an eleven hour drive ahead that puts us there at 8 pm with no stops. Not likely! I am, however, impressed with the desire to support the team though.
The track team hit the track hard on Thursday for their final big workout of the year with 4x4x200m. The Men ran each set at 32, 30, 28 and a few of them made the last set crossing in 26 or faster. The end result was several of them laying on the ground for the next ten minutes. The women had the same goal workout and three of them managed to finish all sixteen. The women started at 36 and successively went, 34, 32 and stayed around 32 for the last four.
In all it was a great workout and shows just how far we've come as a group. For the men we had ten participate in the workout, and for the ladies we had five. The first meet for the team will be December 5th in Mankato, MN. The biggest question at this point is how many 4x4's we'll be running at the meet. We are for sure running two women and two men with the possibility of three on the men's side.
I've really enjoyed seeing every one get into shape this year and can say that many of the kids have really trimmed up and are looking good. I've been telling the men that last year only 48 points separated 2nd place from 9th. Next up, Indoor Conference.....!
